Since getting back on the 'net in March of 2000, following a long abscence, I found myself innocently wandering into the halls of alt.fan.pratchett . I had been a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld(c) books for many years, and I basically went to a.f.p. just for the hell of it. What I found was, in my most humble opinion, one of the finest places on the 'net, with some of the most gracious denizens one could hope to meet. The following links are mainly concerned with a.f.p. and the menagerie which surrounds it.

The L-Space Web |
The most comprehensive resource of all things Pratchetty can be found at the most wondrous L-Space. If you don't know what L-Space is, you probably have no interest in going there. If you know, or think you want to know, follow this handy link. At L-Space you can get lost in the mountain of information. As well as FAQs and Information, there are such oddities as the Words to the Hedgehog Song, Rules for Cripple Mr. Onion and the glorious a.f.p. Timeline, a sort of chronology of the highs, and sadly, the lows of life on a.f.p. |

a.f.p. is 10! |
Alt.fan.pratchett, the premier newsgroup, home of wibble, flames and general strangeness, all based around the works of Terry Pratchett (Pterry) staggers now to its tenth year of existence. A host of doings and meets is being arrarnged, and you can find out all about them at the Afparty Pages on L-Space |
|
The Compendium |
Beth Winter, an a.f.p. regular, has a site called The Discworld Compendium which is well worth a look at. The site features detailed and comprehensive links to information on all aspects of the Discworld. |
|
a.f.a-f-p |
There are of course many many afpers, and their homepages can be found as part of Sockii's own homepage at alt.fan.alt-fan-pratchett. This resource can be useful for seeing just who is out there. Marvel at the wondrous designs of some people's sites, and boggle at the number of afpers who are involved in tech-stuff. |
| AFP-Code |
An easy way to let others know who you are is to use an AFP-Code. This, like the geek-code and gothcode before it, is a quick code block setting out things deemed to of interest to other afpers. My code block is here |
| L-Space irc |
Aside from Web-land, you can join other Pterry fans on irc. Details are available on L-Space and if you do pop by, I'm usually to be found as dgold. I'm told that there are also Pterry-based Yahoo groups and so forth, but I've never ventured into that realm. |
| AFP Setting |
I know this is semi-egotistical (Well, okay, very egotistical), but I recently wrote a piece describing what I felt the setting for afp would be if and it were real, you can find that here also. |
